The BMW Motorcycle Club of the ACT invites all motorcyclists to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of BMW’s most successful engine variant the R850, R1100, R1150 and R1200 oil heads and Canberra’s 100th birthday at the inaugural Oil Head Rally in the national capital. If you own an early R850, a late model R1200RT or anything in between or would just like to be a part of this milestone in BMW Motorrad’s history – please come along. All riders and bike makes are welcome.

BMW's guide to tie down its motorcycles

I have just had 2 R80G/S analogue speedo's refurbished by a Perth company  in Canning Vale. They did a complete overhaul replaced worn parts (yes they have a source for instrument parts), calibrated, cleaned and painted the speedo's for me. The cost was $120 per Speedo. They also work on the K instruments and VDO gauges etc. The business is managed by Jeff who I thought provided a friendly and efficient service, see the links page under members links for their contact information

The courses are specifically designed for BMW GS riders of all levels. Some of the skills covered during the two-day courses are:

• How to lift, balance and manoeuvre a motorcycle in awkward situations;
• Slow-speed manoeuvring and control;
• Correct body position/balance;
• Throttle and clutch control;
• Cornering;
• Braking;
• Ascending and descending hills safely and confidently; and
• Riding over/around obstacles.
  

Cost is $685 on your own bike. Morning and afternoon refreshments and lunch are included in the entry fee. Courses are conducted by BMW Motorrad's Authorised Training Partner, Moto Development, an off-road training specialist. Bookings at www.bmwmotorrad.com.au.

builder and 250GP national champion road racer roland sands to create the 'BMW concept ninety'. presented at the concorso d’eleganza villa d’este 2013
in lago como, the concept ninety revisits 1973 - a time when the R 90 S one of the fastest production bikes of its day entered production - resurrecting the
spirit of the emotionally charged superbike with a harmonious unison of man and machine. working back and forth from the BMW design headquarters
in munich and sands' workshop in long beach california, the collaborative venture brings to life a full-bred runner with a 900 cc air-cooled flat-twin boxer
engine boasting upwards to 115 horsepower. hand crafted from aluminum, the concept ninety weighs just under 190kg, where the upper ergonomic and
aerodynamic bodywork is visually separated from the black engine and chassis.
